2017 GENESIS G80, ALL WHEEL DRIVE, 3.8 L ENGINE. CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A 4 LANE EXPRESSWAY IN HEAVY, RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC USING ADVANCED CRUISE CONTROL SET NEAR SPEED LIMIT. G80 WAS IN THE LEFT LANE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A VEHICLE ON THE RIGHT. THERE WAS A VEHICLE AHEAD OF THE G80. DRIVER NOTICED ANOTHER VEHICLE COMING UP FAST FROM BEHIND UNTIL IT WAS VERY CLOSE TO THE REAR OF THE G80. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GENESIS G80. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND VIBRATED ABNORMALLY WHILE CHANGING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WEBB HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 1000 WEST 81ST AVE MERRILLVILLE IN 46410, AND DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.

Approximately May or June of 2022 I noticed my 2017 Genesis g80 began intermittently hesitating and hard shifting when I was driving so being that I hadn't had it even a year I contacted the dealer and Genesis. I was told the warranty was up with Genesis and advised to contact the extended warranty by Carvana (the dealer). The contact owns a 2017 Genesis G80. The contact stated occasionally while shifting into gear, the vehicle jolted, with an abnormal sound coming from underneath the hood. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired because the warranty had expired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
