TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FREIGHTLINER X LINE MOTORHOME(NA). THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED THE DEALER WHEN HE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE # 09V056000, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BATTERY, CABLES. HE WAS ADVISED THAT HIS APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER OF 2009; HOWEVER, IN SEPTEMBER HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE RECALL WAS NO LONGER BEING HONORED SINCE ANOTHER COMPANY PURCHASED THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,903.

WE WERE DRIVING OUR 40 FT MOTORHOME DOWN HIGHWAY 491 IN NEW MEXICO AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH HEADING SOUTH TOWARD SHIPROCK, NM, WHEN THE ELECTRICALLY CONTROLLED DAY/NIGHT SHADE ON THE WINDSHIELD CAME CRASHING DOWN ONTO THE DASH, RIPPING ELECTRICAL WIRING TOTALLY OUT. UNIT PROBABLY WEIGHED 10 - 12 POUNDS. I STRUGGLED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SHOCK OF THE INCIDENT AND TO REALIZE WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. ENTIRE SHADE SYSTEM WAS NOW LAYING ON DASHBOARD. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT DRIVING INTO THE DIRECTION OF THE SUN AND NO ONE WAS INJ…

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FREIGHTLINER CUSTOM X-LINE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V343000 (STEERING:GEAR BOX:SHAFT PITMAN) AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALER. THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT EXCEEDED 15,000 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL DOES NOT MENTION MILEAGE RESTRICTIONS. AS OF SEPTEMBER 22, 2008, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND IS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,500.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FREIGHTLINER CUSTOM X-LINE RV. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER STEERING. AS A RESULT, THE STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. AS THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, THE POWER STEERING HOSE DETACHED FROM THE POWER STEERING FILTER, WHICH CAUSED POWER STEERING FLUID TO SPRAY ALL THE VEHICLES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY.
