THE VEHICLE ROLLED WHEN THE SHIFT LEVER WAS PLACED INTO PARK POSITION. THE DRIVER HAD PARKED THE VEHICLE. THE SHIFT LEVER BUSHING HAD BECOME DETACHED FROM THE SHIFT LEVER ON THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL FOR FORD FUSION AND FORD ESCAPE VEHICLES. THIS ALSO HAPPENED ON ANOTHER OF OUR 2015 FORD TRANSIT CONNECT VEHICLES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD TRANSIT CONNECT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES IN THE VEHICLE. VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS FLASHED, THE WINDOWS FAILED TO GO UP AND DOWN, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY MORE THAN FOUR DEALERS, BUT THE FAILURES STILL OCCURRED. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LINKAGE SEPARATED FROM THE HOUSING DUE TO A BUSHING FAILURE. IT SHOWED IN PARK, BUT THE CAR ROLLED AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS REQUIRED. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AT THE TIME.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOUR STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY FAILS TO CONTROL YOUR CAR WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING? WITH THE STEERING WHEEL CRANKED AS FAR AS IT WOULD GO, MY CAR CONTINUED GOING STRAIGHT AS I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT. I STOPPED THE CAR COMPLETELY, BLOCKING TRAFFIC.
