MY 1999, FORD RANGER HAD BEEN MAKING A SPARKING SOUND WHEN I STARTED IT UP FOR A FEW DAYS. THEN WE TOOK IT ON A DRIVE AROUND TOWN TO DO A COUPLE ERRANDS, MAYBE EIGHT MILES. CAME HOME, TOOK THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND WENT INSIDE. MY NEIGHBOR CAME TO MY DOOR 20 MINUTES LATER SAYING MY ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. WE OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW THE SECONDARY CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH, LOCATED ON THE END OF THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER, ON FIRE. ANOTHER NEIGHBOR HAD GRABBED AN EXTINGUISHER AND PUT IT OUT.
