TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1997 COUNTRY COACH MAGNA RV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS POWERING OFF A HYDRAULIC PUMP, WHICH IS DRIVEN THROUGH A POWER TAKEOFF CASE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE WAS NOTICED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. THE SPLINES FROM THE PUMP TO THE POWER TAKEOFF WERE DETERIORATED TO THE POINT THAT THE SPLINES SHEARED. AS A RESULT, THE PUMP NO LONGER TURNED OR PRODUCED ANY FLUID PRESSURE, CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO BECOME INOPERABLE.
