CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS TOO MUCH PLAY IN STEERING, AND STEERING WAS TOO LOOSE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RACK AND PINION/ INNER TIE ROD, AND BUSHINGS WERE TOO LOOSE. CONSUMER WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER LATER.*AK

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1996 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN EXTREMELY STRONG ODOR OF FUEL EMITTED CONTINUOUSLY INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. A FUEL LEAK WAS NOT VISIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO BOTH STATED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR O-RINGS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 98V1840000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE A SECOND TIME. TH…
