TWO DAY AFTER DEALER HAD PERFORM A RECALL LETTER NHTSA #04V11000, WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE: SOME PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 4.0L V8 ENGINES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE NYLON TUBING USED IN THE FUEL RAIL CONSTRUCTION MAY DEGRADE AND CRACK. ADDITIONALLY, THE 1995 MODEL YEAR USES A UNIQUE UNDERHOOD FUEL RETURN LINE THAT MAY CRACK. CRACKING OF THE FUEL RAIL OR RETURN LINE TUBING CAN RESULT IN A FUEL LEAK INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CADILLAC ELDORADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THAT FUEL FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A PUDDLE LOCATED UNDER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK AND THE RETURN LINE WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FUEL ODOR PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
