TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 (NA) BMW S1000 RR. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL AND SMOKE APPEARED UNDER ONE OF THE SEATS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND A FIRE AND A POLICE REPORT WERE FILED. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE BATTERY, WHICH EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE…
