Owner report 11512273 · 2023-03-16 (March 16, 2023)

My BMW IX accelerates on its own without me pushing the pedal. It happens randomly and without warning. Sometimes it happens as I am taking off from a traffic light or a stop sign. I barely push the accelerator to start going and the car all of a sudden accelerates rapidly. I take my foot off the accelerator but it still continues to accelerate. Braking stops it. As it happens randomly, I sincerely doubt the dealership can reproduce this by a test drive. I think it is a software problem and a dangerous one at that. I can imagine that this could…

Owner report 11525738 · 2023-06-06 (June 6, 2023)

The plastic seat insert that borders the square hole just below the headrest is painful to shorter passengers. Their head feels it even with minor braking. The BMW “fix” (a foam plug) does not provide enough padding or ergonomic benefit to remedy the problem and is issued for a steep fee at the dealership. The major safety issue is if there is a collision. No person’s head should be thrown against a hard plastic object in an accident! Shouldn’t the materials of a headrest be regulated? Shouldn’t there be firm padding made of a soft and relativ…

Owner report 11503442 · 2023-01-24 (January 24, 2023)

My 1 week old iX had an unfortunate accident. I was backing it into the garage using the Recorded Path. This path has been used successfully multiple times since I got the car. Yesterday, while the car was steering into the garage, instead of steering onto the garage, it backed up straight into the wall opening, damaging the rear bumper and the garage wall. The garage wall moved in about 2-3 inches rendering the garage door inoperable. The CAR SENSORS DIDN’T STOP THE CAR although it was very clear it was heading for an obstacle, THE HOUSE WALL.…

Owner report 11503456 · 2023-01-24 (January 24, 2023)

The Icon Adaptive Led headlights w/Laserlight are designed so that the high beam tracks (aims) to steering wheel inputs, and possibly camera inputs, in order to illuminate the road ahead. The center of the beam is focused more tightly than is generally done with headlights which have illumination fixed to the centerline of the car. This feature is described on page 160 of the operating manual, and is the same as the exactly comparable headlights on my 2020 BMW M340i, which I also own. The car has been at the dealership for the past 11 days due…

Owner report 11540108 · 2023-08-22 (August 22, 2023)

The vehicle automatically lost power, shut down, and came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. During the shut down, I was unable to accelerate, brake, or steer the vehicle to the side of the road to a safe stopping location. The vehicle computer appeared to take over and shut down the vehicle and I was unable to stop it from happening. I was informed by the dealer that the issue was with the Combined Charging Unit. The vehicle has been back at the dealer since July 17, 2023 and I do not know if the Combined Charging Unit is still …

Owner report 11568082 · 2024-01-26 (January 26, 2024)

The vehicle drivetrain failed and would not allow the driver to change gear, either to drive forward or backward. The vehicle engine was still on. The vehicle computer system generated the following message on the dashboard: "Drive carefully. Drivetrain fault. Have the problem checked by the nearest service center. Contact service center." There was an option to "Close message" at the bottom of the screen. The vehicle was stalled in the middle of the street. It took almost 30 minutes before the gear box inside the vehicle could be manipulated …
