TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 YAMAHA ZUMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ASSUMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE REPAIR PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 700.

BEING THAT THERE HAS BEEN ISSUES AND COMPLAINTS FILED WITH THE 2009 YAMAHA ZUMA 125CC FUEL PUMPS, THE PROBLEM IS THE FUEL PUMPS ARE DEFECTIVE AND CAUSES A HAZARD IN TRAFFIC ,STALLING OF THE SCOOTER WHILE DRIVING .THIS CREATES A PROBLEM AT HI SPEEDS AND ALSO HAPPENS WHEN YOU SHUT THE BIKE DOWN AFTER A RIDE. AFTER THIS HAPPENS THE FUEL PUMP WILL NOT PUMP FUEL TO RE START THE BIKE,WHICH LEAVE THE DRIVER STRANDED ,THE BIKE WILL RESTART ,AFTER THE BIKE HAS COOLED DOWN FOR 3 TO 4 HRS. AND SOMETIMES LONGER HEAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THE FAULTY PUMP TO FA…

WE BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW IN 09'. I RODE THIS ONLY AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD BECAUSE OUR FAMILY MEMBERS LIVE CLOSE. WE THOUGHT WE HAD A BATTERY PROBLEM AT FIRST AND REPLACED IT IN 2010. THEN WE WENT ON A TRIP SO I WASN'T ABLE TO RIDE IT MUCH FOR THE SEASON. WE TRIED TO RUN IT IN 2011 AND IT RAN FOR A MINUTE (IN THE DRIVEWAY) AND THEN IT STOPPED AND WOULD NOT START AT ALL.
