AFTER ONLY 12,000 MILES OF RIDING THE VEHICLE, THE SECOND GEAR IN THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP OUT. YAMAHA DENIES ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS HAPPENING TO ANY OTHER VEHICLE, AND EXPECTS THE OWNER TO COVER THE COST OF PARTS AND LABOR. YAMAHA STATES IT IS THE OWNERS FAULT, BUT EVER OTHER OWNER THAT HAS ABOUT 8,000 MILES ON THEIR VEHICLE EXPERIENCES THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK

Owner report 10036907 · 2003-08-30 (August 30, 2003)

AS WITH MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THE YAMAHA R6 I HAVE EXPERIENCED PREMATURE FAILURE WITH THE MOTORCYCLES TRANSMISSION WITH ONLY 11,000 MILES ON THE BIKE. WHEN UNDER ACCELERATION IN 2ND GEAR THE BIKE WILL JUMP OUT OF GEAR AND SLIP. I VIEW THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MANY AS HUNDREDS OF THESE MOTORCYCLES HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE MANUFACTURE COMPENSATE THE OWNERS OF THESE MOTORCYCLES IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. I FEEL LIKE YAMAHA HAS LEFT MANY PEOPLE HIGH AND DRY WITH THE BILL TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEE…
