Owner report 10595749 · 2014-06-03 (June 3, 2014)
MOTORCYCLE MISSES AND WANTS TO STALL AT LOW RPMS CODE NUMBER SHOWS UP AS THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR . WHAT I DONOT UNDERSTAND IS THE MODEL YEAR THAT SHOWS UP ON YOUR RECALL IS 2004 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 11/01/2002 AND 3/31/2005 MY R1 IS A 2003 MODEL AND WAS MADE BETWEEN THESE DATES. IS THIS A WAY TO LET THEM OFF THE HOOK BY REDUCING THE NUMBERS RECALLED . I DONOT UNDERSTAND WHY YAMAHA SHOULD BE AWARDED FOR MAKING A DEFECTIVE CYCLE THAT IS A DANGER TO THE OPERATOR. *TR

YAMAHA R1 MOTORCYCLE STALLED...CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AND CRASHING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AS THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OTHER OWNERS ON WEB LOGS WITH THIS PROBLEM. YAMAHA HAS DENY ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS. THIS WEBSITE, DEDICATED TO THIS MOTORCYCLE, WILL SHOW HOW MANY OTHERS ARE ALSO AFFECTED BY THIS POTENTIAL DEADLY PROBLEM: HTTP://WWW.R1-FORUM.COM/FORUMS/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?S=&THREADID=9883. *JB

Owner report 10555856 · 2013-12-12 (December 12, 2013)
YZF R1 STALLS OUT WHEN ENGINE TEMPERATURE IN LESS THAN 170 DEGREES. WHILE APPROACHING FIRST STOP, SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL IT STALLS OUT REGULARLY. EXTREMELY HIGH IDLE (JUMPS FROM 1000 TO 3000 RPM) WHEN ENGINE TEMPERATURE EXCEEDS 200 DEGREES. REPLACED THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, SUB-WIRING HARNESS, ADJUSTED THE THROTTLE BODIES. STILL STALLS OUT. *TR

Owner report 10808070 · 2015-12-02 (December 2, 2015)
AT THE TIME OF THIS REPORT THERE HAS BEEN NO OFFICIAL RECALL FOR THIS MOTORCYCLE. I JUST WANTED TO MAKE AWARE THAT MYSELF HAVE BEEN TOLD TO NOR RIDE THIS MOTORCYCLE AS THE SECOND GEAR IN THE TRANSMISSION COULD FAIL AND CAUSE CATASTOPHIC FAILURE, RESULTING IN INJURY AND OR DEATH TO RIDER. THIS EFFECTS ALL 2015 YAMAHA R1...MODEL YEAR 2015. YAMAHA IS AWARE OF THIS BUT MOST PEOPLE HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED AND ARE STILL OPERATING THESE MOTORCYCLE WITH A KNOWN DEFECT.

Owner report 10186940 · 2007-04-03 (April 3, 2007)
2007 YAMAHA R1- THE OTHER DAY I WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON MY MOTORCYCLE. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH IN SECOND GEAR WHEN THE CAR NEXT TO ME BEGAN TO MERGE OVER ON ME. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO AVOID A COLLISIONS BUT MY BIKE DID NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER OUT OF THE WAS OF THE MERGING VEHICLE.. THE LAG IN THE THROTTLE RESPONSE SEEMED VERY STRANGE TO ME SO I DECIDED TO TEST THE BIKE BY RECREATING THE SCENARIO. MY FINDING WERE, IF I RIDE THE MOTORCYCLE IN 2ND GEAR AT APPROXIMATE…

Owner report 10190541 · 2007-05-11 (May 11, 2007)
WHEN RIDING ABOUT 5500 RPMS IN SECOND GEAR THE THROTTLE SYSTEM BECAME COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE. THE ENGINE WILL NOT GAIN RPMS NO MATTER HOW FAR THE THROTTLE WAS TURNED. ONE MUST LET THE THROTTLE RETURN TO THE STARTING POSITION AND THEN SLOWLY TURN IT BACK TO ACCELERATE. THIS WAS A STARTLING EVENT, EVEN WHEN IT IS KNOWN TO HAVE OCCURRED BECAUSE IN THE COURSE OF RIDING THERE WERE SO MANY OTHER FACTORS TO BE CONCERNED WITH, SUCH AS NOTING THE POSITION OF OTHER TRAFFIC, STEERING, ETC. THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND WAS MOST DEFINITELY A DEFECT…
