THIS IS REGARDING A 2009 YAMAHA ZUMA 125 SCOOTER. THERE HAS BEEN A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMPS ON THESE BIKES AND MINE FINALLY BROKE DOWN THE OTHER DAY. THE ISSUE IS THAT IF THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS HOT ENOUGH IT CAUSES THE FUEL PUMP TO COMPLETELY FAIL. LUCKILY MINE STOPPED WORKING WITH THE BIKE STATIONARY, HOWEVER IT IS COMMON TO HAPPEN WHILE THE BIKE IS MOVING WHICH CAUSES A COMPLETELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHEN THE FUEL PUMP FAILS IT IMMEDIATELY CUTS FUEL PRESSURE AND THE MOTORCYCLE WILL TURN OFF IMMEDIATELY. THIS COULD CAUSE A CR…

VEHICLE'S ENGINE STALLS WHILE RIDING, OR AT IDLE, UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. THIS OCCURS MOST OFTEN WHEN OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 85 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE STALLED ( ON OR AROUND 5/15/2010)I WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. ON OR AROUND 6/18/2010 THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP AT A LEFT TURN SIGNAL. THE VEHICLE WILL START UP MOST OF THE TIME AFTER BEING PARKED FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME, BUT AS THE VEHICLE IS BEING USED REGULARLY DURING THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY IT WOULD STALL WHILE AT A LOW SPEED OR IDLE. THE PROBLEM GETS WORSE OVER TIME, AND EVENTUALLY IT WILL STALL WHILE AT FULL THROTTLE AND WILL NOT RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED ON ME ONCE WHILE ON A 45MPH STREET AND ONCE ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN THE SLOW LANE WHILE AT GREATER THAN 55MPH.
