HIGH NUMBER OF FAILURES OF BRAKING SYSTEM. *MR (IN RE: WORKHORSE SYSTEM) WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE DRIVER COULD FEEL THE TIGHTENING OF THE CABLES AND THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PADS AND DRUMS. THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL SWITCH FAILURE AND AN OIL LEAK. THE OIL HAD SPILLED ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM CAUSING SMOLDERING. THE CONSUMER SUGGESTED THAT IF THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING, THE OPERATOR WOULD NOT REALIZE THE FAILURE, AND UPON PARKING AND SETTING THE PARK BRAKE AND OR EMERGENCY BRAKE, THE DRIVER WO…

DT: THE EMERGENCY BRAKE COMES ON IF ONE LOSES ELECTRICAL CONTACT OR A FUSE BLOWS OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS NO SAFETY FEATURE TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. THIS IS NO INDICATION THAT THIS IS HAPPENING. THIS HAPPENED IN 2000 AND THE BRAKE CIRCUIT WAS CHANGED. AND HAPPENED AGAIN IN 2005. ALL CHECKUPS HAVE BEEN KEPT REGULARLY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 WORKHORSE P320032. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH UNDER DRY CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR TWO HOURS BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE LOST BRAKE AND STEERING POWER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO REPLACE THE SWITCH.
