Reported: 2026-06-09 (June 9, 2026) · Model years: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026

Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2002-2026 BC1800XL brush chipper trailers. The hydraulic jack may extend unexpectedly.

Consequence: An extended jack may contact the ground while driving, causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of injury or a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will repair the hydraulic jack, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 7, 2026. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051 ext. 7060. Vermeer's number for this recall is IK4837.

15V575000 · Exterior Lighting

Reported: 2015-09-16 (September 16, 2015) · Model years: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016

Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain model year 2008-2016 Vermeer BC1000XL, 2013-2016 BC700XL, 2012-2016 BC900XL, 2009-2016 BC1200XL, 2003-2016 BC1800XL, 2005-2014 BC600XL, 2005-2016 SC802 and 2005-2013 SC602 Brush Chippers and Stump Cutters. These models have LED side markers lights that do not have reflectors built into the lenses, reducing the visibility of the vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: The absence of reflectors could reduce the ability for others to see the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Vermeer will notify owners, and will supply reflective decals to be installed on the trailer sides, free of charge. The recall began on November 13, 2015. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051 or by email at productsafety@vermeer.com.

Reported: 2012-08-02 (August 2, 2012) · Model years: 2012

Vermeer is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 single axle brush chipper trailers because the axle mounting bolts could loosen, leading to axle separation from the brush chipper.

Consequence: If the axle separates from the brush chipper, there is an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy: Vermeer will notify owners, and dealers will replace the mounting bolts, free of charge. The recall began ion August 21, 2012. Owners may contact Vermeer at 641-628-3141.

24V098000 · Trailer Hitches

Reported: 2024-02-09 (February 9, 2024) · Model years: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021

Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2016-2024 BC1800XL brush chipper trailers. The tongue weldment may crack and separate from the tow hitch.

Consequence: A hitch separation can cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Vermeer will provide a remedy kit, integrating a new surge brake tongue into the tongue weldment, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 5, 2024. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051, ext. 7060. Vermeer's number for this recall is IK4524.

22V499000 · Trailer Hitches

Reported: 2022-07-12 (July 12, 2022) · Model years: 2022

Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2022 BC1800XL trailers. The improper length mounting bolts were installed on the trailer hitches, resulting in inadequate thread engagement of the pintle hitch mounting bolts.

Consequence: Inadequate thread engagement may result in bolt failure, possibly causing hitch separation and a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the tongue and pintle bolts of proper length, at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 25, 2022. Owners may contact Vermeer's customer service at 1-800-829-0051 ext. 7060. Vermeer's number for this recall is IK4266.
