ELECTRICAL BRAKES ON TRAVEL TRAILER FAILED WHILE ON HIGHWAY. TROUBLESHOOTING REVEALED THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRES LEADING FROM THE MAIN BRAKE SHEATHED CABLE TO THE AXLES HAD BEEN LOOPED BACK THROUGH THE METAL SUPPORT BRACKET WITHOUT ANY PROTECTIVE SHEATHING. THE NORMAL DRIVING VIBRATION CAUSED BETWEEN THE WIRE AND BRACKET EVENTUALLY WEARING THROUGH CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND AND COMPLETE TRAILER BRAKE FAILURE.*DT THE BRACKET WHERE THE SHORT CIRCUIT OCCURRED IS ON THE LEFT BOTTOM SIDE OF THE TRAILER JUST INSIDE THE MIDDLE OF THE TANDEM AX…

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2021 VENTURE TRAVEL TRAILER MODEL: SONIC 234RK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRAVEL TRAILER WAS UNHOOKED FROM THE 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO, AND WAS PARKED ON THE DRIVEWAY WHEN IT CAUGHT FIRE AROUND THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT LOCATED NEAR THE PROPANE TANK. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH A HOSE. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE TRAVEL TRAILER TOTALED.
