Owner report 731240 · 2000-09-13 (September 13, 2000)

NO OIL WAS BEING SENT TO THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY IF RIDING WHEN INCIDENT OCCURED. MANUFACTURER SAYS THEY WILL NOT REPLACE MOTOR OR MOTORCYCLE. FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE RIDING THIS BIKE EVEN AFTER THE MOTOR IS REBUILT. DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY A BRAND NEW MOTORCYCLE WOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF FAILURE AND THE MANUFACTURER NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND REPLACE IT.

THE OIL SEAL ON THE REAR WHEEL DRIVESHAFT UNIT FAILED CAUSING FINAL SHAFT OIL TO LEAK ONTO REAR SWING ARM AND REAR WHEEL. REMOTE CHANGE THAT OIL LEAKING ON REAR WHEEL COULD CAUSE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY A LEAK GREAT ENOUGH COULD CAUSE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TO SEIZE CAUSING REAR WHEEL LOCK UP RESULTING IN POSSIBLE INJURY OR DEATH TO RIDER(S). DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY REPLACED OIL SEAL PER WARRANTY
