WHILE DRIVING MOTORCYCLE AT NIGHT WITH HEADLIGHTS ON LOW BEAM THERE WAS POOR VISIBILITY, AND HAD TO SLOW MOTORCYCLE DOWN TO 30-40 MPH. CONSUMER TRIED DRIVING WITH THE HIGH BEAMS, AND THEY WERE TOO BRIGHT AND INTERFERED WITH OTHER DRIVERS. HAS NOT TAKEN VEHICLE TO THE DEALER.*AK THE LOW BEAMS ILLUMINATE EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE ROAD DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. *NM

04V475000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Drum:Shoes/Linings

Reported: 2004-10-01 (October 1, 2004)

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES AND SCOOTERS, THE REAR BRAKE SHOE MATERIAL COULD SEPARATE DUE TO IMPROPER ADHESIVE CURING.

Consequence: IF SUCH SEPARATION OCCURS DURING OPERATION, BRAKING ABILITY WITH THE REAR WHEEL WILL BE REDUCED OR LOST, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE SHOES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 8, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT YAMAHA AT 1-800-889-2624.
