2007 YAMAHA C3 SCOOTER. I DID NOT HAVE THE OPTION OF THAT MODEL ON YOUR DROP DOWN MENU SO I JUST PICKED ANYONE TO CONTINUE WITH THE COMPLAINT. IT IS A C3 49CC SCOOTER. FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF AND YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC OR TURNING. IT HAD SHUT OFF SEVERAL TIMES DURING THAT DAY AND I DID NOT WANT TO GET INJURED OR DIE BECAUSE OF IT SHUTTING DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. VERY DANGEROUS. I MANAGED TO BE ON THE SIDE SO WAS ABLE TO PULLOVER WHEN THE ENGINE DIED. CALLED YAMAHA AND THEY SAID THEY WILL REPLACE IT BUT DID NOT MAKE IT A RECALL FOR SAFETY ISSUES. THE…

Reported: 2008-09-11 (September 11, 2008)

YAMAHA IS RECALLING 4,800 MY 2007 XF50 AND XC50 MOTORCYCLES. A CRACK MAY DEVELOP ON THE CONNECTING ROD. IF THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO BE RUN, THE CRACK WILL DEVELOP FURTHER AND THE CONNECTING ROD MAY BREAK.

Consequence: IF THE CONNECTING ROD BREAKS, THE ENGINE WILL STOP AND CANNOT BE RESTARTED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL DISASSEMBLE THE ENGINE AND THE CRANKSHAFT WILL BE REPLACED WITH ONE THAT HAS A PROPERLY HEAT-TREATED CONNECTING ROD. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT YAMAHA AT 1-800-962-7926.
