YAMAHA MAJESTY YP400 SCOOTER: LOW-SPEED STALLING. MY SCOOTER NOW HAS 800 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS STALLED SEVEN TIMES AT LOW SPEEDS. TYPICAL EVENT LEADING UP TO FAILURE: NOTHING SPECIAL EXCEPT THE PROBLEM OCCURS AT VERY LOW SPEED, IE UNDER 10 MPH. A MAJESTY USER'S WEB SITE (WWW.MAJESTYUSA.COM) INDICATES VIA POLL THAT 65% OF USERS HAVE THE LOW-SPEED STALLING PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS AS THE SCOOTER STALLS AT LOW SPEED, AS WHEN SLOWING AT A RED LIGHT AND THEN RE-ACCELERATING TO PROCEED. THE STALL LEAVES THE DRIVER WITH…

I HAVE A 2006 YAMAHA MAJESTY MOTOR SCOOTER. TWICE IN THE MORNING WHEN I WAS PRACTICING LOW SPEED RIDING THE BIKE STALLED AND NEEDED TO BE RESTARTED. THE WEB SITE MAJESTYUSA.COM OFFERED REPORTS OF RIDERS WHO EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THIS STALLING PROBLEM COULD HAVE SOME SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES WHEN STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. THE MOTOR SCOOTER HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, WHICH WORKS FINE EXCEPT FOR WHEN IT STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS AND WHEN IDLING. IN MY CASE, THE STALLING OCCURRED DURING TWO LOW SPEED MANEUVERS. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 YAMAHA MAJESTY YP400. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE # 07V219000 (FUEL SYSTEM). THE DEALER PLACED HIM ON A WAITING LIST FOR THE REPAIR. HE WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD TAKE TWO WEEKS FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE AND WAS ADVISED NOT TO RIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CALL ANOTHER DEALER BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN UNABLE TO GET HIS VEHICLE REPAIRED. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,250.
