6/20/2012- WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 101 I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND OUR 2011 WINNEBAGO VIEW 24J ACTED LIKE WE HIT A LARGE BUMP IN THE ROAD. I THOUGHT IT WAS A BLOW OUT. WHEN I PULLED OVER, I RAN AROUND TO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I COULD HEAR AIR LEAKING FROM THE TIRES. A CHP OFFICER PULLED UP BEHIND US TO SEE IF WE WERE OKAY. HE ASKED IF THAT WAS OUR EXHAUST SYSTEM LAYING IN THE MIDDLE OF 101. I SAID I DON'T THINK SO, BUT WHEN I LOOKED TO SEE MY TAILPIPE STICKING OUT IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER REAR TIRES, I REALIZED THAT IT WAS GON…

THE VEHICLE WHICH IS ON A MERCEDES SPRINTER 3500 CARGO CHASSIS IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS AS WITHOUT WARNING IT GOES INTO A "LIMP MODE" WHERE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSES POWER AND/OR ACCELERATION SUCH THAT ON A LEVEL SURFACE THE VEHICLE MAY NOT EXCEED SPEEDS OF 20 TO 25 MILES AN HOUR AND ON ANY INCLINE SURFACE ONLY REACH SPEEDS OF 5 MPH OR COME TO A STANDSTILL. THE VEHICLES INTENDED FOR USE BY CONSUMERS WHO MAY BE TRAVELING ON BUSY INTERSTATES AND HIGHWAYS IN AREAS GIVEN THE SIZE OF THE VEHICLE WHERE A SAFE PULL OFF MAY NOT EXIST AND/OR MAY BE OPE…

10V470000 · Seat Belts

Reported: 2010-10-05 (October 5, 2010)

WINNEBAGO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2011 WINNEBAGO VIEW AND ITASCA NAVION MOTOR HOMES BECAUSE THE DINETTE AREA SEAT BELT RESTRAINTS ON THOSE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 210, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY ANCHORAGES." IN A COLLISION, THE GENERATED CRASH FORCES CAN CAUSE THE RESTRAINT'S ATTACHMENT TO TEAR AND ALLOW THE ANCHOR TO SEPARATE FROM THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE.

Consequence: IF THE RESTRAINT SEPARATES FROM THE VEHICLE DURING A CRASH, THE BELT WILL NOT PROPERLY RESTRAIN THE SEAT OCCUPANT, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH TO THE OCCUPANT.

Remedy: WINNEBAGO WILL ADD ADDITIONAL SEAT BELT ANCHORAGES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 12, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WINNEBAGO AT 1-800-537-1885.

12V559000 · Electrical System:Wiring:Fuses And Circuit Breakers

Reported: 2012-12-03 (December 3, 2012)

Winnebago is recalling certain model year 2009-2013 model Era motorhomes, 2010-2013 Via and Itasca Reyo motorhomes, and 2011-2013 View and Itasca Navion motorhomes; manufactured November 13, 2007, through August 20, 2012. The proper fuses were not installed for the refrigerator circuits.

Consequence: Without the proper fuse, heat can build which could lead to a vehicle fire.

Remedy: Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuses. The recall began on December 21, 2012. Consumers may contact Winnebago Industries owner relations at 1-641-585-6939.
