THE DIFFERENTIAL FAILED REQUIRING A COMPLETE REBUILD TWICE JEOPARDIZING THE SAFETY OF THE OPERATOR .THE VEHICLE IS A 1992 WINNEBAGO ADVENTURE .THE DATA PLATE RATES THE REAR AXLE AT 12000 LBS. THE REAR AXLE [ A DANA 80] IS RATED AT 10,000 LBS . A LIKE PROBLEM EXISTED ON A FLEETWOOD MOTOR HOME . IN THAT CASE THE MFG. WAS REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE REAR AXLE WITH ONE OVER PROPER CAPACITY REF. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 99V013000. ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM HAS SLIPPED THROUGH THE CRACKS THE MFG SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO AT THE VERY LEAST REPLACE THE REAR AXLE…

TRANSMISSION SYSTEM STALLED ON THE FREEWAY WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AFTER THE WARRANTY. *AK

THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER HOIST COMPONENTS CAN BECOME LOOSE WHILE TRAVELING AND ALLOW THE SPARE TIRE TO MOVE FROM ITS STORED POSITION TO THE ROAD SURFACE.
Consequence: THE SPARE TIRE CAN CONTACT THE ROAD SURFACE INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE FOLLOWING VEHICLES.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL ADD A PRIMARY SPARE TIRE SUPPORT BRACKET.
