2 CARLISLE TRAILER TIRES BLEW OUT A MONTH APPART AND ONE CAUSED DAMAGE TO OUR NEW 36' 5TH WHEEL RV. WE BELIEVE THESE 16" TIRES TO BE DEFECTIVE AND A SERIOUS HAZARD WHEN TOWING A 5TH WHEEL OR TRAILER, AS THIS IS THE SECOND RV WE HAD WITH CARLISLE TIRES THAT HAD TREAD SEPARATION FOR NO REASON. WE LOST ALL 4 TIRES ON OUR PREVIOUS 2000 25' WANDERER WAGON TRAVEL TRAILER IN THE FIRST YEAR; SO FAR WE HAVE LOST TWO ON THE 2004 36' 5TH WHEEL RV. PROPER INFLATION WAS ASSURED PRIOR TO TRAVEL AND TEMP WAS ONLY ABOUT 40 DEGREES OUTSIDE OF HAVASU, AZ. THE …

Reported: 2003-08-22 (August 22, 2003)

ON CERTAIN FIFTH WHEEL TRAILERS, DEPENDING UPON THE MANNER IN WHICH ITEMS ARE STORED IN THE TRAILER DURING TRANSIT AND THE CORRESPONDING WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION, THE TRAILER COULD BEGIN TO SWAY WHILE BEING TOWED.

Consequence: THIS DEFECT COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH INVOLVING BOTH THE TRAILER AND THE TOW VEHICLE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY.

Remedy: THOR WILL NOTIFY ITS CUSTOMERS TO ARRANGE TO HAVE THE TRAILERS TRANSPORTED TO THOR CALIFORNIA'S FACTORY FOR REPAIR. OWNER NOTIFICATION AUGUST 19, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT THOR CALIFORNIA AT 1-888-697-8467.
