I HAVE A 2006 VW TOUAREG ONLY A MONTH OLD WITH 2,700 MILES. I WAS NOT OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME WHICH WAS A GOOD THING. I LEFT WORK STARTED MY TOUAREG AND IS SHUT OFF RIGHT AWAY AND WOULD NOT START AND THE KEY WAS LOCKED IN THE IGNITION. I HAD TO BE TOWED TO MY LOCAL DEALER. IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR TWO WEEKS AND THERE WAS A FAULTY CONTROL MODULE. IT WAS REPAIRED BUT WHO KNOWS HOW LONG IT WILL LAST. FROM MY RESEARCH IT APPEARS THIS EXACT SITUATION HAS OCCURRED IN THE 2004 MODEL YEAR ALSO WHICH WAS THEIR FIRST YEAR OF PRODUCTION. IT COULD …

THE 2006 VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL SENSORS, FROM THE AIR BAGS TO THE GAS CAP, ON THE CAR THAT HAVE BEEN GOING OFF. WHAT WAS WORST WAS THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE SHOP EVERY OTHER WEEK THIS PAST MONTH. THERE WAS A HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN TOLD OF THIS ALONG WITH THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CAR WAS RUNNING IN ORDER OF OPERATION. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY WERE VERY AWARE OF THIS CONCERN ,AND THAT IT WAS A SOFTWARE P…

THE DOG WAS LOCKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE FOR 45 MINUTES. THE WINDOW HAD TO BE BROKEN. THE DEALER ADVISED HER TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES WOULD NOT HELP. THE DOG WAS TAKEN TO THE VET AND GIVEN AN IV OF FLUIDS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 16,500.

I HAVE A BRAND NEW VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG AND THE SEAT, STEERING WHEEL AND DASH INSTRUMENTS ARE TOTALLY MISALIGNED AND IT IS CAUSING BACK AND SHOULDER PAIN. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO WORK OUT WITH VOLKSWAGEN AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME TO TAKE A HIKE. VW SERVICE MANAGER OF 21 YEARS TOLD ME I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS COMPLAINED AND THAT HE THOUGHT A CASE RECENTLY WENT TO ARBITRATION. THIS IS MY 2ND V-10 TWIN TURBO DIESEL THAT I HAVE HAD IN 5 MOTHS BECAUSE MY FIRST ONE TURNED OUT TO BE A LEMON AND I CANT TELL YOU HOW DIFFICULT VW WAS TO TRY AND G…

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. HE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, RESTARTED IT, AND DROVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 4-5 MILES WHEN THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD SOUND, JERKED FORWARD, AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, AND AFTER SIX ATTEMPTS, WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. SQUEALING NOISE AFTER I STOP AND BEGIN TO ACCELERATE OR WHEN I DRIVE SLOW. DEALER SAYS TOUAREGS ARE ROUGH ON BRAKES. IT HAS ABOUT 42,000 MILES ON IT. HE SUGGESTS I LIVE WITH THE SQUEALING NOISE FOR A YEAR OR TWO UNTIL THE BRAKES REALLY GO. OR THEY CAN REPLACE THEM NOW - $700+. UGH. JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 60 DAYS AGO. *TR

Reported: 2017-09-20 (September 20, 2017)
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2004-2007 Touareg vehicles. These gasoline-powered vehicles have a fuel filter flange that may crack, allowing fuel to leak.
Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel filter flange for cracks, replacing the flange if cracks are found. If no cracks are found, a protective cover will be installed onto the filter flange. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 9, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 20Ai.
