TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 UTILITY VS2DX TRAILER EQUIPPED WITH CARLISLE SPORT TRAIL ST TIRES, SIZE 20.5/8.0/10 (NA). THE DOT NUMBERS FOR THE TIRES WERE AQBU3914, AQBU0115, P4BUACC1216, AND PUBUACC3815. WHILE DRIVING 64 MPH, THE TIRES OVERHEATED AND THE TREAD SEPARATED, WRAPPING ITSELF AROUND THE AXLES. AS A RESULT, THE RIMS WERE DAMAGED. THE CONTACT REPLACED SIX TIRES IN TOTAL. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120.

11V117000 · Power Train:Axle Assembly

Reported: 2011-02-18 (February 18, 2011)

UTILITY TRAILER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2009 VS2RA AND MODEL YEAR 2008 VS2DX REFRIGERATED AND DRY VANS EQUIPPED WITH ARVINMERITOR AXLES. INSUFFICIENT TORQUE MAY HAVE BEEN APPLIED ON THE SPINDLE NUT ON THE ARVINMERITOR TL SERIES TRAILER AXLES INSTALLED IN THESE VAN TRAILERS WHERE THE STAKE WASHER FOR THE NUT IS STAKED IN A SINGLE LOCATION AS OPPOSED TO MULTIPLE LOCATIONS.

Consequence: LOW AND/OR NO TORQUE ON THE NUT CAN RESULT IN EXCESSIVE END-PLAY IN THE WHEEL-END SYSTEM AND COULD PROGRESS TO A WHEEL SEPARATION WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy: ARVINMERITOR IS WORKING WITH THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS TO IDENTIFY AND REPAIR THE VEHICLES THAT CONTAIN THE SUBJECT AXLES FREE OF CHARGE. PLEASE SEE ARVINMERITOR DEFECT REPORT 10E-058. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ARVIN MERITOR AT 1-248-273-4641.

Reported: 2021-04-07 (April 7, 2021)

Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company (Utility Trailer) is recalling certain 2006-2021 VS2DC, VS2DX, VS3DX trailers. The horizontal weld that attaches a mild steel angle to the slider rail for super doubles/pintle hook operations may be missing.

Consequence: Without the weld, the slider rail may detach from the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Utility Trailer will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, add the weld, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021. Owners may contact Utility Trailer customer service at 1-800-423-6591. Utility Trailer's number for this recall is SB-07-015.
