ON 7-23-06 I WAS DRIVING MY NEW 2006 TNG MILANO SCOOTER IN WHICH I LOST CONTROL BECAUSE THE REAR FENDER BROKE OFF AND BECAME CAUGHT IN THE TIRE ROTATION. I WAS FORCED TO SWERVE OUT OF TRAFFIC AND COME TO A QUICK STOP, CAUSING THE BIKE TO CRASH ON TOP OF ME. THE DEALER, SCOOTER STATION, INSPECTED THE BIKE ON 7-25-06 AND DETERMINED THAT THE REAR FENDER WAS FLAWED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FLAW WOULD BE REPORTED TO CMSI. Reported: 2007-02-06 (February 6, 2007)
ON CERTAIN MOTOR SCOOTERS, THE REAR FENDER MOUNTING BRACKETS MAY FATIGUE AND FAIL OVER TIME.
Consequence: THE SEPARATED FENDER MAY CAUSE THE REAR WHEEL TO LOCK-UP WHILE UNDERWAY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE REAR INNER FENDER. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 15, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CMSI AT 1-800-529-6642.
