MY MOTORCYCLE HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE FOR MORE THAN A YEAR, AND SPENT THE FIRST 7 MONTHS AT ONE DEALER, WHO GAVE THE MOTORCYCLE BACK TO ME, - THEY COULD NOT FIX IT, I WAS ADVISED THAT EVEN THE FACTORY TECHNICIANS WERE NOT ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE MOTORCYCLE WILL NOT IDLE, AND STALLS AT IDLE. I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE ANOTHER AUTHORIZED DEALER AND PRESENTED THE BIKE TO THIS DEALER - EXPLAINING THE SITUATION. THIS DEALER HAD THE BIKE DELIVERED TO THE MANUFACTURERS DISTRIBUTION CENTER, WHERE I WAS TOLD IT WAS WORKED ON…

04V156000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 2004-04-07 (April 7, 2004)

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL CONNECTOR LINKING EACH OF THE FEED AND RETURN FUEL HOSES TO THE FUEL PUMP MOUNTING PLATE MAY FRACTURE FOLLOWING IN-SERVICE HANDLING.

Consequence: FUEL COULD ESCAPE FROM THE FRACTURED BODY OF THE CONNECTOR ONTO THE ENGINE OR SIDE OF THE BIKE. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CONNECTOR. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 30, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT TRIUMPH AT 1-678-854-2010.
