DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE REAR AXEL WAS TOO SMALL FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE MOTOR HOME. REFER TO RECALL CAMPAIGN #91V061000. THERE HAD BEEN TWO FAILURES OF THE AXLE. IN BOTH CASES THE VEHICLE'S OWNER HAD THE REPAIRS COMPLETED ON THE EXISTING AXEL AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. THE AXEL THAT REMAINED THE SAME WAS THE ORIGINAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE AXEL HAD NOT BEEN COMPLETELY REPLACED DUE TO THE EXPENSIVE COST. THE REMEDY IN THE RECALL INDICATED THAT THE FULL REAR AXEL ASSEMBLY SHOULD BE REPLACED. THIS COULD NOT BE DONE BECAUSE GARDNER PA…

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1984 TOYOTA GRANVILLE MOTOR HOME (NA). WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. HE EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE LUG NUTS ON BOTH THE REAR DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRES FAILED. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES IN THE VEHICLE BEFOREHAND. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000. UPDATED 09/16/08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL BEARING FAILED.
