I PARKED MY CAR ON AN UPWARD INCLINING DRIVEWAY AND LEFT IT IN IDLE. I WENT INSIDE THE HOUSE TO GO AND GET MY DOG AND SPEAK TO MY IN-LAWS. I BROUGHT THE KENNEL OUT TO THE CAR, LIFTED THE TAILGATE AND PUT THE KENNEL IN. I WENT BACK IN THE HOUSE, GOT THE DOG FOOD, PUT THE DOG FOOD IN THE TAILGATE. I WENT BACK INSIDE AND WAS SPEAKING TO MY IN-LAWS WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WE HEARD A LOUD CRASH. WE WENT OUTSIDE AND MY CAR HAD ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO THEIR GARAGE. THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE CAR AT THE TIME OF THE ACCELERATION. THE DOG WAS STILL…

THERE IS NO ILLUMINATION OF THE MAIN DASHBOARD DISPLAY-SPEED, RPM, TEMPERATURE AND FUEL LEVEL WHEN LIGHT CONTROL IS AT OFF OR DRL (DRIVING LIGHTS) POSITION. I WENT TO DEALER AND SERVICE MAN SAID THAT IS THE WAY IT IS AND ANOTHER NEW VEHICLE ON THEIR LOT WAS THE SAME. THE GAUGE LIGHTS ARE ON BUT DIM IN PARKING AND HEADLIGHT POSITION. (TOYOTA MANUAL SAYS USE DRL IN DAYTIME TO SAVE FUEL AND ELIMINATE CHANCE OF BURNING OUT DRIVING LIGHTS.) I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID AFTER 2 WEEKS OF INVESTIGATION THAT THIS IS THE WAY IT IS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN I-95 TO FLORIDA FROM NC, TRAVELING 70 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE WHEN I NOTICED A CAR COMING UP FROM BEHIND DRIVING ALMOST ON THE CENTER LINE. I STAYED IN MY LANE AND THE CAR CAME UP AND IMPACTED THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE, ROTATING THE CAR 90 DEGREES AND SENDING ME AND MY FAMILY OFF THE INTERSTATE ONTO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. THE SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THE POINT OF IMPACT RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER AND SIDE DOORS OF THE MINIVAN. *TR

Owner report 10593914 · 2014-05-24 (May 24, 2014)

MY 2014 TOYOTA SIENNA DOES NOT HAVE THE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT LIGHTS ON WHEN DRIVING. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS HOODED TO SHIELD IT FROM SUNLIGHT. AUXILIARY LIGHTING IS REQUIRED TO CLEARLY SEE AND READ THE DIALS AND INSTRUMENTS. NOT BEING ABLE TO QUICKLY AND EASILY READING THESE DIALS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THE ONLY WAY TO TURN ON THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS IS TO (1) TURN ON THE PARKING LIGHTS OR (2) TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS CONTRARY TO OTHER VEHICLES WE HAVE OWNED, INCLUDING TOYOTAS. TOYOTA HAS TOLD ME THAT THIS IS STANDARD. I DISA…

Owner report 10621981 · 2014-08-13 (August 13, 2014)

TOYOTA'S DESIGN DOES NOT PERMIT THE DASHBOARD LIGHTING OF THE INSTRUMENTS AND DIALS UNLESS ONE TURNS ON THE LIGHT SWITCH FOR (1) PARKING LIGHTS OR (2) HEADLIGHTS. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTING DOES NOT TURN ON WHEN ONE STARTS THE ENGINE. IT DOES NOT TURN ON WHEN ONE TURNS ON THE FRONT DRIVING LIGHTS. TOYOTA'S GAUGES AND SPEEDOMETER ARE RECESSED UNDER A HOOD IN ORDER TO PREVENT GLARING OF SUNLIGHT. PREVIOUS TOYOTA VEHICLES WOULD TURN ON THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WHEN YOU STARTED THE ENGINE. THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH OUR 2014 TOYOTA. IF THE DRIVE…

Recall history

6 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

14V414000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Gear Position Indication (Prndl)

Reported: 2014-07-08 (July 8, 2014)

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2014 Sienna vehicles manufactured June 17, 2014, through June 24, 2014. The affected vehicles have a transmission shift control cable whose protective cable sleeve may have been damaged during assembly. This could cause the control cable to bind or separate during gear shift operation causing incorrect gear selection. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect."

Consequence: If the transmission shift cable separates while the vehicle is being driven, the transmission gear selection may not match the indicated gear and the vehicle may move in an unintended or unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, when the driver goes to stop and park the vehicle, despite selecting the 'PARK' position, the transmission may not be in 'PARK.' If the vehicle is not in the 'PARK' position there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the transmission shift control cable, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began in early August 2014. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2014 Toyota Avalon, Camry, Sienna, and Highlander and model year 2015 Lexus RX350 vehicles. Fuel may leak from the one of the fuel delivery pipes in the engine compartment.

Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace any of the suspect fuel delivery pipes free of charge. The recall began November 17, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

16V858000 · Structure:Body:Door

Reported: 2016-11-29 (November 29, 2016)

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Toyota Sienna minivans manufactured January 4, 2010, to August 12, 2016. If the power sliding door is unable to be opened when commanded, such as if the door is frozen shut, the door may subsequently open unexpectedly, possibly while the vehicle is moving.

Consequence: If door opens while the vehicle is moving, there would be an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the junction block, rear sliding door wire harnesses, and install two sub wire harnesses, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2017. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is G04.

These vehicles are equipped with air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, used as original equipment or replacement equipment (such as after a vehicle crash necessitating replacement of the original air bags), that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator, or replace the air bag assembly. The recall began February 15, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Reported: 2019-06-04 (June 4, 2019)

Braun Corporation (Braun) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Toyota Sienna mobility van conversions. The brake lines may have incorrect tube nut fittings installed, which may cause a pressure drop within the braking system.

Consequence: The reduction in the braking system pressure may cause a loss of braking power in the rear braking system, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy: Braun has notified owners, and dealers will install an adaptor to correct the issue, free of charge. The recall began June 25, 2019. Owners may contact Braun customer service at 1-800-488-0359.
