2022 Thor Motor Coach MAGNITUDE: complaints, problems and recalls

After driving from California to New York, I saw that screws holding the Front Cap (cab over bunk) had started to back out and delaminated the trim. If the screws continue to back out, it is possible that the entire front cap attached to the Ford Chassis could break apart from the RV and injure the passengers or people on the road. I have reported this issue to Thor and I am awaiting feedback if they are able to repair. There are also many other Thor Magnitude customers reporting this issue online.

Screws that hold the rv body together at the corners are breaking off and /or backing out. If all these screws come out which they are known to the body could fall apart going down the highway. I’ve read forums where everyone that has submitted complaints are experiencing this problem on all Thor Motorcoach models, Omni and Magnitude. Thor is totally aware of this problem. The only way to tell this problem exists is to visually inspect the moldings that cover these screws and the molding will bulge out. bolt JPH

On July 4th I was merging into traffic onto I90W when my vehicle warning lights started flashing across the full spectrum. The gear shift show no indication of gear position and the Rv appeared to have jumped into neutral as I was accelerating and merging. The vehicle would not move forward causing full lane closure. I was flat towing a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. Law Enforcement arrived on scene and immediately had the vehicle towed due to interstate lane closure (safety issue). The contact owns a 2022 Thor Motor Coach Magnitude built on a 2021 Ford F-550 chassis. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the slide-out room experienced unexpected movement. The RV was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the slide-out track system needed to be replaced. The RV was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. Multiple power train failures while driving on interstate shutting down Highway due to the inability to move vehicle. 6 instances now where I have received warning lights of hill assist, traction control, collision control and other features being disabled while moving.

The following severe safety defects were found on the motorhome: - The passenger side wall was NOT attached on the bottom to the frame. The mounting locations are missing all mounting hardware from the factory. The wall is breaking away from the roof where it is the only location anchored. The primary issue involves the large, full-wall slide-out system on our motorhome. Since new, the front portion of the slide has shifted outward during travel, even while fully retracted. This led to the slide binding and becoming inoperable. The manufacturer attempted to fix the issue twice at their factory service center. I stopped at a campground after leaving SC. Discovered a Thor factory solar panel had detached somewhere between SC and Arkansas. The mounting bracket was still attached to the roof but the bolts, washers and nuts were missing on 2 of the 4 mounts and the other mounts had loose components. It would have been a possible catastrophic event if it would have detached at highway speeds.

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling 2021-2022 Magnitude and Omni motorhomes. The LP gas line may have been incorrectly routed through the rear suspension leaf springs, which could damage the line and cause a gas leak.

Consequence: A gas leak increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will re-route the LP line as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 23, 2021. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000242.

Reported: 2022-05-05 (May 5, 2022)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2022 Scope, Tellaro, Sanctuary, Delano, Sequence, Tranquility, Rize, Synergy, Quantum, Magnitude, Geneva, Compass, Chateau, Four Winds, and 2022-2023 Tiburon, and Gemini vehicles. The quick disconnect fittings in the LP gas system may be cracked, causing a gas leak.

Consequence: A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the quick disconnect fittings, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 27, 2022. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867.
