GOODYEAR, MARATHON, ST225/75R15, LOAD RANGE D, DOT UNKNOWN, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WITH 2000 MILES ON A 1997, SUNDOWNER, HORSETRAILER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH LEFT REAR TIRE HAD A BLOWOUT IN TREAD AREA. NO ACCIDENT.*AK GOODYEAR REPLACED ALL FIVE TIRES INCLUDING THE SPARE AT NO CHARGE. *SLC

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: STEEL, ALUMINUM AND VALUELITE HORSE TRAILERS. TIRE SIZES WERE IMPROPERLY ENTERED ON THE CERTIFICATION LABEL. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 120, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES OTHER THAN PASSENGER CARS," AND PART 567, "CERTIFICATION."
Consequence: IF COMPLETE TIRE INFORMATION IS NOT AVAILABLE, UNDERRATED TIRES COULD BE PLACED ON THE TRAILER CAUSING EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR OR, IN EXTREME CASES, POSSIBLE TIRE BLOWOUTS.
Remedy: NEW CERTIFICATION LABELS WILL BE MAILED TO OWNERS OF THESE TRAILERS. IF AN OWNER DESIRES, SUNDOWNER TRAILERS WILL INSTALL THE LABEL FOR THEM.
