The contact owns a 2022 Spartan K2. The contact stated that while the RV was hauling another vehicle, the TPMS was inoperable. The contact was unable to view the tire pressure of the hauled vehicle. The tire alert messages were displayed. Additionally, the TPMS intermittently displayed while the RV was at a complete stop. The RV was taken to the dealer, where the tow transmitter and coach antennas were installed; however, the failure recurred. 21V214000 · Steering:Column | Steering

Reported: 2021-03-25 (March 25, 2021)

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2021-2022 Spartan RV Chassis K1, K2, K3, and K4 vehicles. The steering output shaft inside the steering column may be too short and could disengage from the steering input shaft.

Consequence: Disengagement of the steering output shaft could result in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Shyft Group will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and if necessary, replace the steering column, free of charge. The recall began on March 31, 2021. Owners may contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-582-3454. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 21-07.

21V319000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Fuel Injection System:Fuel Rail

Reported: 2021-05-05 (May 5, 2021)

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2017-2022 Spartan RV Chassis K2 and K3 vehicles. The sealing washer may not seat correctly in the pilot bore holes, allowing the high pressure fuel rail assembly to leak.

Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the rail threads and fuel lines, and replace the rail as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 25, 2021. Owners may contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-543-4277. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 21-11.

21V566000 · Fuel System, Diesel:Delivery:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 2021-07-26 (July 26, 2021)

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2021-2022 Spartan RV Chassis K2 vehicles equipped with Cummins L9 Diesel Engines that have remote Stage 2 fuel filters and pressurized hoses. A fuel leak may occur from the fuel hose between the fuel pump and the remote fuel filter head.

Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Cummins will replace the fuel hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 14, 2021. Owners may contact Shyft Group's customer service at 1-800-582-3454. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 21-18.

21V589000 · Electrical System: Instrument Cluster/Panel

Reported: 2021-07-29 (July 29, 2021)

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2018-2022 K1, K2, K3, and K4 Spartan RV Chassis. The instrument cluster may intermittently go blank while the vehicle is in motion.

Consequence: A blank instrument cluster display may be missing critical information such as the vehicle's speed and warning lights, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Shyft Group will update the control module software, and reroute and secure the duct work, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 15, 2021. Owners may contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-582-3454. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 21-13.

21V776000 · Suspension:Critical Fasteners | Suspension

Reported: 2021-10-05 (October 5, 2021)

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2020-2022 Spartan RV Chassis K1 and K2 recreational vehicles. The rear suspension mounting fasteners that attach the rear-drive axle to the rear suspension may not have been tightened properly, which could allow the fasteners to loosen or break.

Consequence: Loose or broken suspension fasteners can allow the rear-drive axle to shift out of place, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Shyft Group will inspect the rear suspension fasteners for damage, and replace and tighten them as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 16, 2021. Reported: 2022-07-22 (July 22, 2022)

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2022-2023 Spartan RV Chassis K1, K2, K3, and K4 vehicles. The steering gears may have been assembled incorrectly, which can cause the gears to fracture.

Consequence: A fractured steering gear can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

22V785000 · Service Brakes, Air:Supply:Reservoir/Tank

Reported: 2022-10-19 (October 19, 2022)

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2021-2023 Spartan K2 RV Chassis. The air brake supply reservoir is less than 12x the combined volume of air for all service brake chambers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."

Consequence: The undersized air brake supply reservoir may provide an insufficient air supply to properly operate the brakes during repetitive braking, reducing braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Shyft Group will replace the air supply reservoir, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 23, 2022. Owners may contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-582-3454. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 22-14.

23V062000 · Electrical System:Software

Reported: 2023-02-09 (February 9, 2023)

Shyft Group is recalling certain 2022-2024 Spartan RV K1, K2, K3, and K4 motorhome chassis. A vehicle control module software error may cause loss of drive power or loss of key safety functions, such as loss of head lights or windshield wipers.

Consequence: A sudden loss of drive power, or reduced visibility from a loss of head lights or windshield wipers can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Shyft Group will update the vehicle control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 17, 2023. Owners may contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-237-7806. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 23-01.

25V114000 · Fuel System, Diesel:Delivery:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 2025-02-21 (February 21, 2025)

Shyft Group (Shyft) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Spartan RV Chassis K2 vehicles equipped with Cummins L9 diesel engines. The remote fuel filter hose may separate from the fitting, causing a fuel leak and an engine stall.

Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Shyft will work with the equipment manufacturer, Cummins, to replace the fuel hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 10, 2025. Owners may contact RV Chassis customer service at 855-589-9836.
