Owner report 10082518 · 2004-07-23 (July 23, 2004)

I OWN AN RV WITH DUEL REAR WHEEL'S. IN THIS CASE, IT IS ON A FORD CHASSIS. TO CHECK OR ADD AIR TO THE TIRES, WE ARE REQUIRED TO INSTALL EXTENDERS. MYSELF LIKE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE VALVE STEM EVENTUALLY BREAKS, CAUSING IMMEDIATE AIR LOSS, CAUSING TIRE FAILURE, UNLESS EXTREEMLY CARFUL COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE UNBENOUNCED, THIS TIME IT WAS THE INNER DUEL AND NOT IMMEDIATELY NOTICED. A TRUCKER NOTICED IT AND WAVED ME OVER. THE TIRE WAS TOTALY DESTROYED AND SLAPPING AGAINST THE GOOD TIRE WITH IT'S STEEL …

WE HAVE A 2000 SHASTA CHEYENNE CLASS C MOTORHOME WHICH CAME WITH FIRESTONE TIRES LT225/75R16. LAST YEAR WE HAD THREE BLOWOUTS, ONE WHICH COST OVER $3,100 TO REPAIR DAMAGE CAUSED. WE ONLY HAVE 18,000 MILES ON THE MOTORHOME AND THE TIRES AREN'T SUN DAMAGED. WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND OUT IF THESE TIRES WERE RECALLED. ALSO, WE HAVE A SAMSUNG MICROWAVE MR5492W. DID NOT GET A LETTER AND THE LOCAL REPAIR PLACE WON'T FIX IT WITHOUT A LETTER FROM SAMSUNG. EMAILED SAMSUNG WITH NO RESPONSE SO FAR. WHAT DO WE DO?

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

03V373000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Reported: 2003-10-14 (October 14, 2003)

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES, TRAVEL TRAILERS, AND FIFTH WHEEL TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH SAMSUNG MICROWAVE OVENS, THESE UNITS WERE PRODUCED WITH A DEFECTIVE PANEL. AN ELECTRICAL SHORT CAN OCCUR BETWEEN CIRCUIT PATTERNS ON THE MEMBRANE PANEL, ESPECIALLY OVERLAPPED BY A "JUMPER" OR JUMP WIRE. THIS MAY CAUSE THE OVEN TO ACTIVATE WITHOUT PRESSING ANY KEY PADS.

Consequence: AN ELECTRICAL SHORT CAN OCCUR CAUSING THE OVEN TO ACTIVATE WITHOUT PRESSING ANY KEY PADS. THIS COULD RESULT IN EXCESSIVE HEAT, SMOKE, OR POSSIBLY A FIRE.

Remedy: SAMSUNG WILL NOTIFY CUSTOMERS AND REPAIR THE PANEL FREE OF CHARGE. IN THE MEANTIME, CONSUMERS SHOULD UNPLUG THEIR MICROWAVE, IF POSSIBLE. IF THE CONSUMER IS UNABLE TO UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE, THEY SHOULD LEAVE THE DOOR AJAR UNTIL THE PANEL IS REPLACED. CONSUMERS SHOULD NEVER USE THE MICROWAVE OVEN FOR STORAGE OR LEAVE ANY TOWELS, PAPER, CLOTH OR OTHER PRODUCTS IN THE MICROWAVE AFTER USE. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT SAMSUNG AT 800-932-3837 OR COACHMEN AT 1-219-825-5821.
