RECALL 98V081, TIRE SIZE 21570R15C, TIRES WERE REPLACED AS A RESULT OF THE RECALL. BUT, THE NEW TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED A TIRE BLOWOUT. TIRES REPLACED BY DEALER. NEW TIRES CANNOT SUPPORT THE LOAD OF THE VEHICLE EVEN WHEN SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW GVWR. *AK *ML

I PURCHASE A WINNEBAGO RIALTA RV IN JANUARY OF 1998. IN JUNE OF THAT YEAR I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE DATED MAY 8,98 FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL 5 TIRES ON THE VEHICLE.

GASOLINE FUMES WITHIN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE, AS WELL AS LEAKAGE OF GAS TO THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. CONSEQUENCE OF A DETERIORATED SEAL AND BREATHTUBE WHICH ARE INTEGRAL PART OF THE FUEL TANK. MODIFICATIONS MADE BY WINNEGABO IN ORDER TO PROVIDE FUEL TO THE VEHICLE GAS GENERATOR.

THE TAIL LIGHT USED ON THESE VEHICLES WAS NOT CERTIFIED FOR THE UNITED STATES.
Consequence: THE PHOTOMETRICS OF THE EUROPEAN TAIL LIGHT USED ON THESE VEHICLES MAY NOT BE THE SAME AS ON THE UNITED STATES VERSION RESULTING IN A DIFFERENCE IN LIGHTING ABILITY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE CORRECT TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY.

A SPACER WAS OMITTED AT THE LOWER SEAT BELT ANCHOR POINT OF THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT.
Consequence: THE MISSING SPACER CAN CAUSE THE SEAT BELT ANCHOR SYSTEM TO FAIL IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE SEAT BELT ANCHOR SPACER.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL GENERAL TIRES. CERTAIN TIRES, WHEN INSTALLED ON THESE MOTOR HOMES, CAN EXPERIENCE PREMATURE TIRE DETERIORATION.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE THE TIRE TO DEFLATE AND PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE CAN RESULT.
Remedy: DEALERS, IN CONJUNCTION WITH CONTINENTAL GENERAL TIRE, WILL REMOVE AND REPLACE THESE TIRES WITH NEW TIRES AND NEW VALVE STEMS. THE FRONT TIRES AND SPARE TIRE WILL BE THE SAME SIZE AS THE EXISTING TIRES. THE REAR TIRES WILL BE SIZE 215/70R15C AND HAVE A HIGHER LOAD RATING.
