TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1984 PORSCHE 911. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 83V111000 (SEAT BELTS:FRONT:RETRACTOR) AND CALLED THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN GERMANY AND IMPORTED IT INTO THE UNITED STATES, THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY REPAIRS. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED THAT THE SEAT BELT FAILURE WILL ALLOW HIS CHILD TO UNLATCH THE SEAT BELT AND EXIT THE VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22…

Reported: 1983-10-26 (October 26, 1983)
THE REAR SEAT BELTS DO NOT INCLUDE EMERGENCY-LOCKING OR AUTOMATIC-LOCKING RETRACTORS. THE BELTS DO NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION".
Remedy: RECALLED VEHICLES WILL HAVE THE RIGHT REAR SEAT BELT AND A PORTION TO THE LEFT BELT REPLACED WITH RETRACTABLE BELTS.
