Owner report 10789404 · 2015-11-09 (November 9, 2015)

BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS DOWN TO THE FLOOD WHEN APPLIED. DEALER STATES THAT ALL SLINGSHOTS ACT THIS WAY. THE PEDAL WILL COME BACK UP IF PUMPED. BRAKES HAVE BEEN CHECKED BY DEALER. NO AIR IN THE LINE. I CALLED POLARIS, BUT NOBODY HAS RETURNED MY CALL.

I WAS COMING OUT OF A ROUND A BOUT INTERSECTION IN THE CITY, WHERE I HAD TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN INTO IT AND AND A RIGHT TURN OUT OF IT. JUST AS I CAME OUT OF THE TURN, THERE WAS A JOLT AND AS IF I'D BEEN HIT FROM THE SIDE IN REAR. I WAS ABLE TO STEER OUT OF IT AND INTO A PARKING LOT THAT WAS RIGHT THERE. I WAS ONLY MOVING AT 30 MPH WHEN THE SWING ARM SNAPPED FROM THE STRESS OF THE TURN. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD, I MAY WELL HAVE BEEN KILLED.

THIS COMPLAINT IS A FOLLOW-ON TO NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10919981. I AM NOW BEING TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART(S) WILL BE AVAILABLE TO MAKE THE REPAIRS RELATED TO THIS RECALL. THE DEALER NOW TELLS ME THAT I CAN TAKE POSSESSION OF MY SLINGSHOT IF I SIGN A WAIVER OF LIABILITY, WHICH I AM NOT WILLING TO DO. ONCE AGAIN I CONTACTED POLARIS WHO TOLD ME THAT IT STILL IS NO CONSIDERED A "DO NOT RIDE" RECALL. WHY THEN WOULD THE DEALER REQUIRE THAT I SIGN A WAIVER OF LIABILITY IN ORDER TO TAKE POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE THAT I OWN?…

18V195000 · Seats | Seat Belts

Reported: 2018-03-26 (March 26, 2018)

Polaris Industries, Inc. (Polaris) is recalling all 2015-2018 Polaris Slingshot motorcycles. The driver-seat and passenger-seat seat belt and seat back anchoring bracket may have been improperly welded. Additionally, differences in the seat assembly may prevent proper latching of the seat slider, allowing the driver's seat to move unexpectedly.

Consequence: If the seat belt buckle or seat back detach from the seat base, there would be an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash. If the driver's seat unexpectedly moves, it can cause the driver to lose control of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Polaris will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat belt bracket and seat back welds, and the seat slider latching function. If the weld is missing or incomplete, or if the slider doesn't latch properly, the seat bases will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on April 16, 2018. Owners may contact Polaris customer service at 1-855-863-2284. Polaris' number for this recall is T-18-01.

Polaris Industries (Polaris) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Polaris Slingshot, Slingshot SL and Slingshot SL LE motorcycles equipped with a backup camera. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.

Consequence: The melted voltage regulator can increase the risk of a fire. The loss of a tail light can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Polaris will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the back-up camera, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began January 2, 2019. Owners may contact Polaris at 1-855-863-2284. Polaris' number for this recall is T-18-04.
