During a 150-mile ride, I experienced that while braking for a stop or a traffic slowdown, this unit shifted into neutral, and all of the dash warning lights came on at the same time. This happened 5 times during the ride. I had to coast to the side of the road, shut down, and restart the engine. Once, almost being rear-ended by a vehicle, and I didn't have the power to get to the side of the road. Once this occurs, the unit will not allow you to shift it at all without a shutdown and restart, it is stuck in neutral until this is done. To me, …

While driving the 2021 slingshot R it will randomly be thrown into neutral! I was on the side roads and then got onto highway and it slammed into neutral when I had a F350 right on my butt and almost killed me!

Reported: 2023-07-03 (July 3, 2023)
Polaris Industries Inc. (Polaris) is recalling certain 2020 Slingshot GT, 2021-2023 Slingshot S, Slingshot S Tech, 2020-2023 Slingshot R, Slingshot SL, and 2022-2023 Slingshot SLR vehicles updated with Ride Command Software. After shifting out of reverse, the rearview camera image may freeze and display a blank screen if shifted into reverse again. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Consequence: The loss of the rearview camera image while in reverse can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the Ride Command software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2023. Owners may contact Polaris' customer service at 1-855-863-2284. Polaris' number for this recall is T-23-03.
