WHITE SMOKE CAME OUT FROM UNDER HOOD AFTER VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. SMOKE THEN TURNED DARK BLACK AND FIRE CAME OUT FROM UNDERNEATH HOOD. EXTINGUISHED FLAMES WITH FIRE EXTINGUISHED R. MUCH CLEAN UP WAS NEEDED FROM EXTINGUISHER . APPROXIMATELY $250.00 WORTH OF PARTS NEEDED NOT TO MENTION 8 HOURS LABOR BECAUSE OF FAULTY FUEL RESERVOIR SEAM. CALLED CHRYSLER LOOKING FOR THE PARTS THAT WERE NEEDED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND THEY NO LONGER MADE THE PARTS, AND REPLIED BY SAYING THEY WERE NOT OBLIGATED TO DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE, SORRY…

Reported: 1984-11-21 (November 21, 1984)
THE POTENTIAL FOR FUEL LEAKAGE EXISTS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE FUEL RESERVOIR SEAM AND ITS HOSE CONNECTIONS. THE FUEL RESERVOIR IS A SILVER COLORED CAN MOUNTED TO THE AIR CLEANER.
Remedy: THE HOSES AND THE METAL TUBE THAT ATTACHES TO THE FUEL RESERVOIR WILL BE REPLACED WITH NEW COMPONENTS. THE DEALER WILL ALSO REPLACE OR RESEAL THE RESERVOIR.
