2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

01V113000 · Suspension:Multiple Axle

Reported: 2001-04-02 (April 2, 2001)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: FIRE TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH OSHKOSH ALL-STEER ALL-WHEEL STEERING SYSTEM. THE REAR WHEELS OF A FIRE ENGINE CAN TURN UNINTENTIONALLY IF THE ALL-WHEEL STEERING SYSTEM KEY IS ON AND MOISTURE PENETRATES TO THE WIRE THAT CONNECTS THE STEERING SENSOR TO THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU). IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE INSULATION COVERING THE WIRES BETWEEN THE SENSOR AND THE ECU HAD BEEN NICKED DURING TIME OF ASSEMBLY. OVER TIME, THE NICK IN THE INSULATION ALLOWED MOISTURE TO PENETRATE TO THE ACTUAL WIRE.

Consequence: UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, THE DRIVER CAN EXPERIENCE UNINTENDED TURNING OF A SINGLE OR A TANDUM REAR AXLE, POSSIBLY LEADING TO A VEHICLE CRASH OR INJURY OR DEATH TO A PEDESTRIAN OR FIRE FIGHTER.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT FOR NICKED WIRES AND REPLACE THE WIRE HARNESS. THIS RECALL CAMPAIGN IS 100% COMPLETE.

01V151000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Mounting

Reported: 2001-05-09 (May 9, 2001)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: FIRE APPARATUS ON CERTAIN COMMERCIAL CHASSIS WITH OPTIONS FOR FUEL TANK STEP COVERS. CERTAIN VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITHOUT DRAIN HOLES IN THE ALUMINUM STEP LOCATED BELOW THE FUEL FILL OPENING.

Consequence: SPILLED FUEL ON THE FUEL TANK STEPS CAN CREATE A SLIP HAZARD.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL DRILL HOLES IN THE STEP. THE HOLES WILL HELP DRAIN ANY FUEL THAT IS ACCIDENTALLY SPILLED ON THE STEP. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 31, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT PIERCE AT 1-888-974-3723.
