THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT" COMES ON ABOUT ONCE A MONTH. MY AUTOMOBILE MECHANIC HAS TURNED OFF THE LIGHT EACH TIME. HE SAYS THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS EITHER WEAKENING OR THEIR IS A DEFECT IN THE LIGHT. I FIND IT ALARMING ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M DRIVING AND I WORRY ABOUT IT EACH TIME IT COMES ON.

I AM AN OWNER OF A 2000 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING MY CAR IN AUGUST OF 2000, I HAVE FOUND MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR. ONE PROBLEM IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT KEEPS COMING ON. IT HAS BEEN CHECKED OUT WITH THE DEALER, AND WHILE THEY TURN IT OFF, IT HAS COME ON TWICE MORE. THE SECOND PROBLEM IS A VIBRATION THAT COMES FROM THE FRONT END FO THE CAR, AND IS FELT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS OCCURS DURING DEACCELERATION AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH OR HIGHER. VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT LOSS OF POWER, MISFIRING AND LOUD PINGING NOISES AT HALF THROTTLE OR MORE WHEN PASSING OR ACCELERATING INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND WHEN PASSING AT ANY SPEED. ALSO, THE ENGINE HAD AN INTERMITTENT ROUGH IDLE PROBLEM. ROUGH ENOUGH TO SHAKE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND EITHER FORCE ME TO PULL OVER OR PREVENT ME FROM DRIVING OFF SAFELY.
