TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1991 NAVISTAR 4000 EQUIPPED WITH TWO PRIMEX, CB-02E TIRES, SIZE 900-20. THE PRIMEX TIRE DOT NUMBER WAS 81-A. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE FLAP INSIDE OF THE DRIVERS SIDE TIRE BUSTED AND IT WAS ONE OF THE PRIMEX. THE REPLACEMENT TIRES WERE PURCHASED IN 2010. THE CONTACT STATED HE TOOK OFF THE OTHER THREE TIRES AND NOTICED THAT THE FLAP INSIDE THE OTHER TIRES HAD ROTTED A WERE ALMOST READ TO BREAK. THE CONTACT STATED HE HAS REPAIRED THE FLAP IN BOTH PRIMEX TIRES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. HE CONTACTED THE P…

Reported: 1997-09-02 (September 2, 1997)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRUCK. THE SHOULDER BOLT WHICH HOLDS THE GROTE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH CASE AND COMPONENTS TOGETHER CAN LOOSEN RESULTING IN THE TURN SIGNAL MALFUNCTIONING.
Consequence: IF THE TURN SIGNAL FUNCTION IS LOST, FOLLOWING MOTORISTS WOULD NOT BE AWARE OF THE TURNING VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THESE VEHICLES AND TIGHTEN ANY LOOSE BOLTS AND IN THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WITHIN 2 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF THE RECALL NOTIFICATION LETTER. THE SHOULDER BOLT WILL BE REMOVED, CLEANED, AND REINSTALLED WITH LOCTITE. OWNERS CAN ALSO REQUEST LOCTITE AND REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS SO THEY CAN FIX THE VEHICLES THEMSELVES.
