DEFECT: DOMETIC 2 DOOR REFRIGERATOR CRACK IN THE COOLING COIL AT THE BURNER AREA RESULTING IN A POSSIBLE FIRE. THERE IS A RECALL #08E-032. THE RECALL IS TOO LIMITED IN SCOPE AS IT DOES NOT ADDRESS UNITS THAT HAVE FAILED. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL AND ONLY FOUND OUT ABOUT IT AFTER MY REFRIGERATOR COIL HAD CRACKED AND LEAKED ON THE BURNER UNIT. I NOTICED IT BEFORE THERE WAS A FIRE AND TURNED THE UNIT OFF. I CONTACTED DOMETIC AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD INSTALL THE "FIX KIT" FOR FREE AFTER I PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO PURCHASE PARTS FROM DOME…

CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH FUEL FILL GROUND CABLES.
Consequence: WITHOUT PROPER GROUNDING, AN ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE COULD RESULT DURING FUEL FILL UP, POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A FUEL FILL GROUND CABLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 27, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NATIONAL RV AT 951-436-3000. THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA), AN AGENCY OF THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, HAS BEEN NOTIFIED THAT NATIONAL RV, INC. AND ITS HOLDING COMPANY, NATIONAL RV HOLDINGS, INC., HAVE FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. NHTSA HAS BEEN ADVISED THAT OWNERS WHO WISH TO PURSUE CLAIMS RELATED TO SAFETY RECALL REPAIR WORK ON THEIR NATIONAL RV VEHICLES MAY FILE A PROOF OF CLAIM WITH THE UNITED STATES BANKRUPTCY COURT FOR THE CENTRAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA, RIVERSIDE DIVISION. THE CASE NUMBER ASSIGNED TO THIS MATTER IS 07-17941.
