Owner report 10522059 · 2013-06-27 (June 27, 2013)

THE CENTER SEAT BELT IS VERY UNSAFE. ONCE THE LATCH IS RELEASE, IT GOES BACK TO THE TOP CORNER, BUT IT HIT MY SON IN THE EYE AND FOREHEAD. ONCE YOU REMOVE THE SEAT BELT( CENTER PASSENGER), THE BELT ROLLS UP VERY QUICKLY(UPPER BACK CORNER), SO THE PASSENGER ON THE THIRD ROW HAS TO BE CAREFUL. I HAVE THREE BOYS AND THEY ARE NOT VERY CAREFUL AND THEY ALSO ASSUME THAT THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT ROLL UP SO QUICKLY. IT VERY UNSAFE AND BAD DESIGNED. *TR

THE FIRST TIME I DROVE THIS VEHICLE IN THE SNOW I REALIZED THAT THE WIPERS ARE PLACED BELOW THE HEATED PART OF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS CAUSES THE WIPERS TO FREEZE UP AND NOT CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD PROPERLY REDUCING VISIBILITY. I THINK THAT AN ANGLED WIPER ARM THAT PLACES THE WIPER OVER THE DEFOG WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM.I'VE DRIVEN IN SNOWY WEATHER TWICE SINCE AND IT HAS HAPPENED EACH TIME. *TR

WHILE DRIVING THE FCM, (FRONT CRASH MITIGATION), AND ACC, (ADAPTER CRUISE CONTROL), LIGHTS CAME ON WITH MESSAGE "SERVICE REQUIRED". I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. A MONTH LATER THEY CAME ON AGAIN, THE DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THE NEXT TIME THE LIGHTS CAME ON IT WAS "AIRBAG SERVICE REQUIRED". I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THEY DIAGNOSED THE ECU GOING BAD. NOW, WHEN A LIGHT COMES ON, WHICH IS OFTEN, I DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA IF SOMETHING IS REALLY NOT WORKING. Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

18V070000 · Parking Brake

Reported: 2018-01-26 (January 26, 2018)

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Outlander and 2013-2016 Outlander Sport vehicles. Water may enter the rear brake calipers causing the parking brake actuator shafts to corrode and possibly bind.

Consequence: If the parking brake actuator shaft binds, the parking brake may not engage or disengage fully. If the parking brake does not engage properly, the vehicle may move unexpectedly if it is parked on a slope, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: MMNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear brake calipers and replace the parking brake boot and lever or the brake caliper body, as necessary. Dealers will also replace the piston assembly of the rear brake caliper. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 27, 2018. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-18-002.

20V403000 · Seat Belts: Rear/Other:Buckle Assembly

Reported: 2020-07-13 (July 13, 2020)

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Outlander and 2018-2019 Outlander PHEV vehicles. The second-row center seat belt buckle may interfere with the right-side seat belt buckle when the seat backs are folded down. The interference may cause the right-side seat belt buckle cover to come off, making the buckle latch inoperable and unable to restrain an occupant.

Consequence: An unrestrained occupant has an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy: MMNA will notify owners, and dealers will modify the second-row center seat belt buckle cover, install a new warning label to the second-row seat support base, and provide a new warning label insert for the owner's manual, free of charge. The recall began September 1, 2020. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. Mitsubishi's number for this recall is SR-20-004.
