TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LEXUS LX570. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE GEAR SHIFT WAS PLACED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT UNUSUALLY HIGH RPMS. PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. MY 9 YEAR OLD SON NEARLY STRANGLED IN FRONT OF HIS SISTER AND TWIN SIBLINGS (5 YEARS OLD) WHEN THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT OF THE THIRD ROW GOT TANGLED AROUND HIS NECK. THIS SEATBELT HANGS FROM THE CEILING. I COULD NOT DISLODGE THE BELT FROM AROUND HIS NECK, AS IT WAS NOT OBVIOUS HOW TO DISENGAGE THE CEILING LATCH. I AM AN EXPERIENCED CPST (>800 SEATS PER YEAR) WHO YESTERDAY ASSISTED A MOTHER WITH INSTALLATION OF HER NEW GRACO SR-35 INFANT CAR SEAT W/ BASE MODEL # 1759703 IN HER 2009 LEXUS LX570 SUV. THIS COMPLAINT IS SPECIFIC TO A VEHICLE INTERIOR FEATURE THAT MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CORRECTLY INSTALL THE CHILD RESTRAINT. THE VEHICLE BENCH SEAT IN THE SECOND ROW HAD LEATHER INTERIOR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LEXUS LX570. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ABNORMALLY DEPRESSED INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED ACCOMPANIED BY A WARNING SIREN, INDICATING A BRAKE MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT THEN ENGAGED THE SAFETY BRAKE AS THE VEHICLE COASTED IT TO A STOP. Reported: 2011-02-24 (February 24, 2011)
TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008 THROUGH 2011 LEXUS LX570, 2003 THROUGH 2009 TOYOTA 4RUNNER, AND 2006 THROUGH 2010 RAV4 VEHICLES. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN GET STUCK IN THE WIDE OPEN POSITION DUE TO ITS BEING TRAPPED BY AN UNSECURED OR INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT.
Consequence: A STUCK OPEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY RESULT IN VERY HIGH VEHICLE SPEEDS AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
Remedy: THE REMEDY IS NOW AVAILABLE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN EARLY APRIL 2011. THE REMEDY WILL INVOLVE MODIFICATION OR REPLACEMENT OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND REPLACEMENT OF ANY TOYOTA ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MAT. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331 OR LEXUS AT 1-800-255-3987.

Reported: 2017-08-31 (August 31, 2017)
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2008-2016 Toyota Land Cruiser, 2006 Lexus LX470, and 2008-2013 Lexus LX570 vehicles. These vehicles may be equipped with an incorrect driver or front passenger air bag. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Consequence: An incorrect driver or front passenger air bag may not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected air bag assemblies, free of charge. The recall began September 29, 2017. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is H0S. Lexus' number for this recall is HLD.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2008-2019 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX 570 vehicles. Over time, the seat belt tension sensor wire harness may break and deactivate the front passenger air bag, knee air bag, and passenger seat-mounted side airbag.
Consequence: In the event of a crash, deactivated air bags can increase the risk of injury .
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will modify the front passenger seat belt assembly or replace it with an improved one, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 11, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are Lexus Interim J2L and Remedy JLL, Toyota Interim J15 and Remedy J05.
