I WAS TRAVELING AROUND 40 TO 50 MPH WHEN THE FRONT WHEEL OF MY MOTORCYCLE SEEMED TO JUST GIVE WAY AND SHHOOT ME AND THE BIKE INTO A CURB THEREFORE HIGHSIDEING ME. THE ONLY INJURY I HAD WAS TO MY LEFT AND RIGHT ANKLES. 3 WEEKS AFTER THE ACCIDENT I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE NOT TO RIDE MY MOTORCYCLE DUE TO CASTING FLAWS. MY BIKE IS DESTROYED.*AK

THE CONSUMER'S SON WAS DRIVING A MOTORCYCLE WHEN HE LOST CONTROL AND STRUCK THE CURB. HE WAS THROWN FROM THE MOTORCYCLE AND STRUCK HIS HEAD ON THE CONCRETE AND WAS KILLED INSTANTLY. THE CONSUMER DID NOT KNOW IF NHTSA RECALL 04V373000: REPAIRS ON THE FRONT WHEEL WAS PERFORMED. THE CONSUMER WILL CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. *AK *JB *SC

Reported: 2004-07-22 (July 22, 2004)

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FRONT WHEEL MAY CONTAIN A CASTING FLAW WHICH COULD RESULT IN A WHEEL FAILURE.

Consequence: THIS WHEEL FAILURE COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT WHEEL. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 9, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT KAWASAKI AT 1-866-802-9381.
