Owner report 10342718 · 2010-07-12 (July 12, 2010)

THE ENGINE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE RIDING WHICH CREATES A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION FOR THE RIDER. WHILE RIDING THE MOTORCYCLE IF I PULL IN THE CLUTCH THE ENGINE RPM'S WILL START TO FALL AND SOMETIMES THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF REQUIRING A RESTART. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY WHETHER THE ENGINE IS COLD OR HOT. *TR

2010 KAWASAKI VULCAN VOYAGER 1700 ABS. THE MOTORCYCLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS WHILE SLOWING DOWN, EXAMPLE PULLING IN THE CLUTCH WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN THE ENGINE WILL STALL. THIS HAPPENS PRIMARILY WITHIN ABOUT THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF STARTING THE ENGINE, BUT HAS ALSO HAPPEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURES. THE MOTORCYCLE WILL GENERALLY RESTART AS SOON AS THE CLUTCH IS LET BACK OUT HOWEVER IF SPEED IS TO SLOW USE OF THE STARTER IS NECESSARY TO RESTART THE MOTORCYCLE. THE MOTORCYCLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES AND H…

Owner report 10358904 · 2010-10-03 (October 3, 2010)

2010 KAWASAKI 1700 VOYAGER ABS. THE ENGINE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS WHEN CLUTCH IS DISENGAGED WHILE COMING UP TO STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT. THIS STALLING USUALLY OCCURS WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF STARTING MOTORCYCLE, HOWEVER IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. THE STARTER NEEDS TO BE USED TO RESTART MOTORCYCLE AFTER STALLING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS A STALLED MOTORCYCLE LEAVES THE RIDER VULNERABLE TO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. THIS IS A VERY WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE AMONG RIDERS OF THIS MOTORCYCLE AND KAWASAKI HAS BEEN CONTACTED. TH…

IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON A BUSY ROAD AT NIGHT I COULD HAVE CRASHED OR BEEN RUN OVER. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTS OF CHAFED WIRES IN THE SAME LOCATION ON THE VULCAN FORUMS. *TR
