I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON I-29 IN IOWA SOUTH OF SIOUX CITY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH (POSTED SPEED LIMIT) TOWING MY LOWE FISHING MACHINE 165 WITH A KARAVAN TRAILER WITH SWING TONGUE; THE WELD DIRECTLY BEHIND SWING-TONGUE COUPLER ON MY KARAVAN TRAILER FAILED. THERE WAS NO SAFETY CHAIN BEHIND THE COUPLER, HAD THE WELD FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY, THE BOAT AND TRAILER WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY FREE, WITH HIGH RISK OF DEATH, INJURY, OR SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY DAMAGE.
