Owner report 10845750 · 2016-03-09 (March 9, 2016)

MY CAR "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS A MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD WITH THE WORDS "SAFETY ASSIST" AND "SECURITY". I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER. AFTER 2 DAYS IN THE SHOP, THEY SAID IT WAS (AS POSTED ON THE PAPERWORK RELEASED TO ME) "CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE AND COLD START ROUGH START. FOUND CYLINDER 3 PLUG FOULED OUT POSS FROM MOVING VEHICLE ALL WINTER WITHOUT EVER DRIVING VEHICLE. REPLACED #3 SPARK PLUG, SWAPPED COIL #3 WITH COIL #2 TO SEE IF MISFIRE MOVES TO CYLINDER #2. THIS WAY IF CONDITION IS NOT RESOLVED, I WILL KNOW…

VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. DRIVER TOOK FOOT OFF THE BRAKE FROM DEAD STOP AND THE RENEGADE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. THE INSTURMENT PANEL FLASHED AND FLICKERED VARIOUS TROUBLE INDICATIONS AND THEN STOPPED WITH THE MESSAGE TO SERVICE THE ELECTRIC EMERGENCY BRAKE.

Owner report 10862303 · 2016-04-30 (April 30, 2016)

I HAD THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 3 WEEKS, BRAND NEW, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ALL TESTS WERE PERFORMED AND THE FINAL SOLUTION AFTER ONE FULL WEEK OF TESTING IS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR HAS 700 MILES ON IT. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED DRIVING A BRAND NEW CAR WITH MY KIDS IN IT THAT REPLACING A TRANSMISSION IS ONLY THE FIRST STEP.

MY JEEP RENEGADE IN 3 SHORT MONTHS HAS HAD 4 DIFFERENT INCIDENTS OF THINGS FLYING UP AND BREAKING THE WINDSHIELD. THE FIRST THREE I WAS SIMPLY DRIVING ON THE STREET I LIVE ON. NO CONSTRUCTION, NO LOOSE ASPHALT, AND NO DEBRIS IN ROAD. THE LAST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN A SMALL BIRD HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND COMPLETELY SHATTERED THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD.

Owner report 10885535 · 2016-07-18 (July 18, 2016)

WE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2016 JEEP RENEGADE LATITUDE ON JUNE 11, 2016. ON JULY 1, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 400 MILES THE CAR BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. ON JULY 1, THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED VIA THE PUSH-START IGNITION AND RAN UNTIL THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE POWERED ON, AT WHICH POINT THE CAR SHOOK VIOLENTLY, SEVERAL DASH INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON (ENGINE, PARKING BREAK, ETC.) AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO IDLE HEAVILY AND SHUTTER UNTIL THE ENGINE KILLED. UPON RESTARTING, ONLY THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS SHOWING, SO MY HUSBAND BEGAN TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. APPR…

Owner report 10887558 · 2016-07-21 (July 21, 2016)

I PURCHASED MY JEEP IN MAY AND IT ONLY HAS 2000 + MILES ON IT . WHILE DRIVING TODAY THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED AUTOMATICALLY. IT DID IT AGAIN 3 TIMES ON THE FREEWAY WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT. EVERY TIME I SLOWED DOWN FOR A CAR IT WOULD ENGAGE AND SEND THAT ERROR. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND TIME IN A MONTH I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ISSUES. THE FIRST ONE WAS THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL.

Owner report 10887795 · 2016-07-22 (July 22, 2016)

MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, UNDER COMPLETELY DRY CONDITIONS WITH CLEAN PAVEMENT, THE VEHICLE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM HAS KICKED IN. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO TURN OFF HAS BEEN TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AGAIN, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO A 55MPH HIGHWAY.

Owner report 10888677 · 2016-07-26 (July 26, 2016)

TWICE NOW WITH LESS THAT 950 MILES ON MY VEHICLE THE VEHICLE THE TRACTION CONTROL HAS ENGAGED ON CLEAN DRY PAVEMENT, STOPPED AT A STOP SIGNED AND TURNED RIGHT EACH TIME AND AT ABOUT 5 MPH THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGED AND ENGAGED WHAT SEEMED LIKE A ENGINE BRAKE TO DECELERATE THE ENGINE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND MANY PEOPLE ARE REPORTING THE ISSUE ON SOCIAL MEDIA SITES AND FORUMS FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR

Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

16V545000 · Trailer Hitches

Reported: 2016-07-20 (July 20, 2016)

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Jeep Renegade vehicles manufactured August 25, 2014, to June 25, 2016, equipped with a factory-installed optional trailer hitch package. The trailer hitch assembly may have been attached with only a single fastener per side, not three per side as required.

Consequence: Without the proper amount of fasteners, the trailer hitch assembly may separate from the vehicle, and any towed vehicle may no longer be properly connected, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install two additional fasteners per side, free of charge. The recall began on October 13, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S62.
