2011 JAYCO MELBOURNE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPPED WHEN THE CAMPER WAS CONNECTED A POWER SOURCE. THE OUTLET AT THE PARK WAS CHECKED AND NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. THE CONSUMER USED HIS GENERATOR, AND WAS ABLE TO SWITCH THE 30 AMP TO ON THE NEXT DAY. A MONTH LATER, THE CONSUMER STOPPED TO AN RV PARK, AND WAS UNABLE TO RECEIVE 30 AMP ELECTRICITY. THE PARK MANAGER CHECKED THE POWER SOURCE AND FOUND NO PROBLEM WITH THE OUTLET. WHEN THE CONSUMER AR…

THE FRAME APPEARS TO BE BENDING JUST AFT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DROPPING THE REAR OF THE MOTORHOME AND CAUSING INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE COACH AT THE SPOT OF THE BEND. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO JAYCO HAVE BEEN MADE. JAYCO MODIFIED THE FRAME ON THIS E450 BY ADDING A SECTION INTO THE FRAME. THIS CONDITION HAS HAPPENED OVER TIME AND WAS NOTICED IN THE FRST 4 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. I BOUGHT THIS COACH NEW. I HAD IT INSPECTED AND THE INSPECION ONLY REVEALED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM, WITH NO FURTHER DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM. THERE H…

12V451000 · Electrical System

Reported: 2012-09-14 (September 14, 2012)

Jayco, Inc., (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 and 2011 Greyhawk Class C motorhomes, model year 2008-2011 Melbourne Class C motorhomes, and 2008-2010 Octane Sport Utility travel trailers manufactured from May 21, 2007, through September 10, 2010, equipped with Iota-brand transfer switches. These trailers may have an improper electrical connection at the buss bar on the affected transfer switches. This improper connection may lead to overheating and melting of the transfer switch.

Consequence: Overheating and melting of the transfer switch increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transfer switch, free of charge. The recall began on October 10, 2012. Owners may contact Jayco at 1-800-283-8267.

Reported: 2017-11-21 (November 21, 2017)

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V746-9524.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Jayco will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267, or Kidde customer service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information.
