DT: THE CONTACT STATES TWO ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER, BUT DID NOT STALL. WHEN SHE TRIED TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENED FOUR SEPARATE TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE APPROPRIATE SENSOR. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM. *AK

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS WITH PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE GAS PEDAL AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY DECELERATED OR STOPPED, THE RPM GAUGE SPIKED REALLY HIGH THEN SLAMMED DOWN. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO 3 SEPARATE DEALERS WHO DETERMINED THAT ALL PARAMETERS WERE OKAY BASED ON THE SCAN TEST. DECEMBER 22ND MY SON WAS DRIVING THE FAMILY ISUZU ASCENDER, (BASICALLY AN UPSCALE RE-BADGED CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER) WHEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING ALL THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. FORTUNATELY HE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE, ALBEIT HE WAS SEVERELY STUNNED, DAZED, AND HIGHLY CONFUSED FROM THE ABRUPT EXPLOSION, AND VIOLENT FORCEFUL PROJECTION OF THE BAGS. Reported: 2005-02-03 (February 3, 2005)

CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 212, 'WINDSHIELD MOUNTING.' THE WINDSHIELD URETHANE BEAD MAY NOT HAVE ADHERED TO THE BODY IN CERTAIN AREAS DURING THE CURE PROCESS.

Consequence: IF A CRASH OCCURS, THE WINDSHIELD MAY NOT BE RETAINED, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY TO A VEHICLE OCCUPANT.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 10, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, OR GMC AT 1-866-996-9463.
